PLEASE FORGIVE by John W. Davies

Blood ran red from the deep knife wound
When first I saw it, I almost swooned
I had done this against my will
He had used me; he’d made me kill
Then you saved me from my bitter fate
But then, perhaps, you were too late.
Although it’s thanks to you I live this day
The evil one had had his way.
My child was born; I called her Hope
But with her dark powers you could not cope.
So I set her free, that she might live,
But she killed again, oh please forgive.
I have made a grave mistake
For in your child’s death she did partake.
‘Twas then I thought to end my life
To leave its struggles and endless strife,
But no, I could not take that way
I had to live another day.
So here I am, and here’s my plea,
Let me with you forever be.
